Van life: How about treating ourselves to a real break in comfort on the road?
We all dream of absolute freedom, waking up facing the sea and endless roads. That’s the essence of traveling in a van. But in reality, dreams sometimes give way to reality. Between the hassle of finding a legal place to spend the night, the uncertain safety of some parking lots, and the simple desire for a nice hot shower, the adventure can quickly become exhausting. What if the key to a successful road trip in 2026 was to allow yourself the best of both worlds? Freedom by day, comfort by night.
At Pausado, we have designed our stops to be true bubbles of rest (the meaning of our name in Provençal), adapted to your home on wheels.
Why the “Camping” stage changes everything about your trip
Staying with us doesn’t mean giving up adventure, it means making it more sustainable and enjoyable.
- Live outdoors, for real: When camping in the wild, you often stay indoors to be discreet. On our pitches (from Medium Comfort to XL 100m²), roll out the awning, bring out the chairs, and enjoy.
- Sleep soundly: No more light sleep for fear of being disturbed. Here, you are safe.
- Zero-stress logistics: Empty your waste tanks, fill up with water, electricity… Leave with your batteries full, both literally and figuratively.
- The little extra from Pausado: A heated swimming pool or direct access to the water after the road trip is priceless.
3 atmospheres, 3 itineraries: Find the spot that matches your van
Because traveling in a group is different from traveling solo, we have sorted our “spots” by desire to help you plan your route to the South and the Alps.
1. The “Family & Fun” Stopover: So everyone can have fun.
Traveling with children? Illegal parking can quickly become a headache. These three steps provide the entertainment needed to ensure that everyone gets their money’s worth.

Le Ludo Camping (Ardèche) :
The cool spot. Between the river and the water park with slides, it’s a paradise for little ones.
La Vallée Heureuse (Orgon – Alpilles) :
A spectacular setting amid climbing cliffs. This is a lively campground with a kids’ club and activities for the whole family!
Pausado tip: Ideal for self-contained vans thanks to the Nature pitches (without electricity) or for larger vehicles on the Comfort XL pitches.

Domaine des Chênes Blancs (Luberon) :
In the heart of the nature park, near Gordes. The atmosphere is family-friendly and festive, especially during evenings at the “Chez Titi” restaurant.
Please note: Pitches under the oak trees provide welcome shade.
2. The “Nature & Freshness Break”: With your feet in the water
Camping Les Tamaris (Martigues) :
Wake up facing Anse des Tamaris. Located in a cove on the Côte Bleue, this recently built campsite is perfect for paddleboarding.
For your vehicle: From Medium Comfort (<6m) to Grand Comfort XL with water supply on the plot.

Le Relais du Léman (Haute-Savoie) :
Head for the Alps. Just a stone’s throw from Lake Geneva, in a lush oak forest, this is the ideal place to combine mountain hiking and swimming.
3. The “Zen Bubble”: Calm, comfort, and authenticity
For you, does travel mean peace and heritage? Avoid the crowds and opt for these hidden gems.
Camping Pegomas (Saint-Rémy-de-Provence) :
The luxury of proximity. Leave your motorhome in your secure parking space and walk 15 minutes to the historic center of Saint-Rémy. No noisy entertainment, just the art of living.

Camping Le Luberon (Apt) :
A cozy atmosphere, heated pools, and spacious pitches sheltered from the Mistral wind. A favorite among cyclists who want to explore the Luberon Park with 4-star comfort.
Practical guide: Choosing the right location at Pausado
To avoid any surprises upon arrival, here is a quick overview of our locations for the 2026 season:
- Van or minivan (< 6m): Medium Comfort is for you. Best value for money, often shaded. (Available: Tamaris, Relais du Léman, Ludo, Chênes Blancs, Luberon, Vallée Heureuse, Pegomas).
- Classic motorhome or caravan: Comfort Large is the standard, electricity included.
- “Liner” or need for space (more than 7-8m): Comfort XL is essential for stress-free maneuvering (often >100m²).
- The “Roots” option: At Vallée Heureuse, Nature pitches (without electricity) await self-sufficient vans.
The Vanlifer FAQ at Pausado
Do you have to reserve your spot, even for just one night?
In July and August, it is strongly recommended, especially for specific pitches (XL, shaded). During the shoulder season (April, May, June, September), last-minute bookings are more feasible, but a phone call before you arrive will ensure you have a place to stay.
Are the service areas easy to access?
Yes, all our Pausado campsites are equipped for gray/black water disposal and drinking water refills. This is included in the price. Remember to check your route on Bison Futé before you come.
Do you accept dogs in vehicles?
Absolutely. Our four-legged friends are welcome on the campsites (on a leash). Ludo Camping and Relais du Léman are great places for walks nearby. There is an additional charge for pets.
